This page is a listing of upcoming events in the world of traditional archery. If there is an event that is not listed here that you think should be, please let me know. This covers everything from large-scale expos to casual get-togethers. As with the rest of this site, it's the addition of input from the community that makes this a resource for others!
If you have any events that you wish to add, please let me know via e-mail (there is no automated form yet)
Saturday, March 15 2008 in Ames, IA at the Izaak Walton League. Indoor (and possibly outdoor) shooting in the morning along with a swap meet. A bowhunter forum, meal, meeting and auction are to follow in the afternoon and evening. I'm planning on attending (haven't been there before) so I'm looking forward to it. I should have pictures and narrative posted sometime afterward so people know what to expect if they want to go next year. If you are looking for more info on ITBS, you can find it at www.iowatbs.com.
Saturday and Sunday, May 24 - 25 in Ames, IA at the Izaak Walton League. Unlimited 3D shooting on two courses for a total of about forty 3D targets (casual shooting). Organized shooting events include a Speed Shoot, the Seneca Run, and a Lob Shoot. Camping is available for those staying the weekend, and a good handful of archery shops attend to satisfy your shopping needs.
Saturday and Sunday, June 7 - 8 in Topeka, KS at T.H.E Archery Club (along the Wakarusa River). A bunch of friendly folks, with a challenging 3-D course and camping. Vendors and food booths were in attendance. Overall a very fun shoot to attend!
Saturday and Sunday, June 14 - 15 in Coon Rapids, MN at the Rapids Archery Club in Bunker Hills Regional Park. This event is a popular shoot for archers in the upper midwest. The challenging course is different every year and the facilities are top notch. An excellent weekend trip.
The Traditional Expo in Kalamazoo is a bit of a drive from NW Iowa, but the event was well worth it. If you are looking for some archery excitement during the middle of the winter, this is certainly a place to find it. Vendors and attendees show up from all over the country. It's a perfect place to meet other archers, talk to vendors, shoot a lot of bows, and even buy a few things!
